Travel Spain
How old do I have to be to apply?
To apply for this summer camp program, you need to be at least 18 years old by 15th June, however you can start your application before you turn 18 as long as your birthday is before that date.
If you are between 18 and 35 years old then we can definitely help you to live this unforgettable experience in Spain.
Do I have to be a student to participate in this program?
No, you don’t need to be a student at University to participate in this program. However any degree or studies related with education and/ or theater/ drama will be an asset.
As a Camp Counselor, you’ll be expected to take the children around camp to different activities throughout the day, whether this is to tennis, swimming, or up to the nature, and take part.
Do I need to know Spanish to participate in the Summer Camp Program?
Absolutely not. The camps that we work with are full English immersion and we discourage counsellors from speaking Spanish with the children. Every camp has local Spanish staff (including the director and helpers who speak English very well) who may assist with any language barriers.
Do I need to hold a camp counsellor certificate to work in the summer camp?
No, you don’t need to hold any certificate. Qualifications are a great bonus but not essentials. We’ll match your skills and interest with best summer camp that suit you! Remember that you are teaching kids – not experts. Enthusiasm are more important than a certification.
What date do I need to be available for?
As we work with more than 200 summer camps in Spain and they all start on different dates, it is difficult to answer to this question. However if you are available between July and August then you are likely to be able to participate in this program.
Generally camps run either 2 or 4 weeks in July. Additionally there are many Camps that work also in August but is not frequent. The most important is that we’ve created amazing programs based on the dates in order that you can enjoy the most at this experience and be satisfied.
Do I need experience working with children?
Any experience you may have working with children will be count as a bonus – from voluntary services, sports teams, babysitter or work experience – but it’s not really necessary.
Camps normally hire participants based more on their personality and skills. If you’re an expert basketball coach, scout, trainable or lifeguard and have another skill that stand out, then Summer Camps will be interested in hiring you.

How long will it takes before a placement is found?
Once your easy-application is finish it is then viewable to camps directors. Actually there is no set time period on how long it takes for a found-placement. We always say that it will depends on your profile and the skills you offer. Placements can sometimes come quickly and for others they may take a bit longer.
Can I request a specific location for camp?
Unfortunately, we are unable to take requests for specific locations. We always believe in placement quality over quantity so the match with a summer camp will be carried out extremely careful in order to connect your profile with our partner summer camp requirements.
Can I contact camps directly to try and get a placement?
GO camp spain official policy is to discourage any independent attempts to contact camps as we are aware that through this practice, camps don’t respond well and are adverse to direct contact. Our placement team do their best to match you to the camp that is best suited you.

Do I have to accept the first Camp offer?
We wouldn’t advise you to turn down your first placement offer. Take into account that your profile will be examined by our expert team and will be matched according to your skills and interest with best camp that suit you.
If you really feel that the camp isn’t the best fit we will do our best to place you in another one, however we can’t guarantee you would be offered a second placement. we assure you that all the summer camp that we work with are truly incredible and you will have a remarkable experience – wherever you may end up!
When’s the application deadline?
The application deadline is usually sometime in May/June although this is subject to possible changes. We will announced the closing dates on our Facebook profile, Instagram and out Twitter feed.
The sooner you apply the more you increase your chances of being place. Applying early also means you’ve got much more time to get your documents ready and your program fees paid off.

Fees & Payments
Do FunnyCamps have any fee?
Yes. Go camp spain will be an unforgettable experience for you but as any experience abroad, there is a fee to pay.

What is the programme fee for?
The programme fee covers your application fee, the cost of us working with you to make sure that your application is submitted to and processed by the Spanish office in order to get you placed at your perfect camp.
We’ll set you up for a successful summer by finding you a summer camp that fits you the best, and provide all the essentials such as food, accommodation, orientation, insurance, and 24/7 support while you’re in Spain.
Is it there any registration or interview fees?
No, we don’t take money for neither registration nor skype interviews.
How can I ensure my participation in the program?
You can ensure your place in this program by making the first deposit of 200€. This deposit will automatically book your place to participate in Go camp spain 2020.
Our awesome placement coordinators will then put your application “on review” and they will start the matching process in order to connect your profile with the best camp requirements that better fit with your skills and interest.
If all goes well, your placement will be confirmed in your account or by email. It’s also not usual to be placed straight away without an skype interview with the camp director, we like that our #GoCampSpain have the chance to know the camp and ask questions – if this would happen anyway, congratulations!! That would suggest that the Camp Director mush have really liked your application and CV and don’t need to make any skype.
Do I get back the refund if I am not placed?
Of course! If by the end of our placement season (can be up until end May or beginning June), we unfortunately haven’t found you a placement then we will automatically refund you all the payments/deposits that you’ve made. Unfortunately we cannot refund any third payments you’ve made such as police check fees etc. The refund immediately processed back in the account that you have made your payments from.
If I withdraw my application because I finally change my plan for the summer, do I get the 1º deposit back?
Normally no agency will get you the deposit back if you withdraw your application by your own. As we have travelled a lot and participated in many intercultural exchange programs around the world, we believe that this is not fear. However we have a company policy that we have to respect so adjusting as much as we could to this policy, this is what we could propose to participants:
- Your place will be saved for the next year without paying again the first deposit.
- We refund you the 50% of your deposit.
There’s much more information about our refund policy within our program agreement that participant sign when they join the program.
Once I get the place in the summer camp, what I should do next?
Congratulations!! you’ve been placed in a summer camp in Spain and your summer is going to be unforgettable! Now the next step is to make the last deposit of 370€. This last deposit is only made when the participants get their final place and will have to be submitted in a 7-days-time.
This step is really exciting for participants as is when we start planning everything for you, we will help you to catch the best flight offers, planning your Spanish trips, giving you advices for what to bring with you and basically everything that you’ll need it.
Do I get pay to participate in the Summer Camp Program?
Participants receive high compensation through pocket money. Our quality standard policy commit with participants to earn between 150€ to 200€ per week, additionally you’ll get food & accommodation free in order that you can save the integrity of this money for you.
With the money earned in your summer camp experience, we strongly recommend our participants to prolong their period of travel to visit cities such us Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla, San Sebastian or Ibiza.
Are there 3rd Party Fees?
Yes, these fees are essential to getting to Spain for the summer and unfortunately are out of our control. These include the police background check, medical check (only if camps required) and Embassy fees.
What is the length of the Summer Camp Program.
The average length of a Summer Camp in Spain is about 1 month. Some camps offer shorter stays, others longer.
As we understand that this could be a lot of time for you, we also count on camps that only work for 2 weeks. If you are matched with one of these camps, you’ll have FREE one of the cultural activities available only for #FunnnyCampers.
Remember that everything is designed in order that you make profitable your expenses and above all, that you have a real intercultural exchange experience, which is this program about.

VISA & Insurance
Will I be covered by an insurance during this experience?
Yes and Yes!
Go camp spain will provide to non-european citizen a medical insurance to cover both accident and illness while you’re at camp. Additionally we will cover you 15 days more after your summer camp experience in order that you can travel in Spain and be completely insured during these days.
If I am an European citizen, will I be covered by an insurance as well?
Of course! though you don’t need it as you’re European.
Go camp spain collaborate actively with the European ERASMUS + programmes. As a result of that, you will receive an online support Spanish course for the duration of 1 year, beside The European Health Insurance Card.
Our European Visas and Erasmus + programmes coordinator will assist you during all the application process and explain you everything.
How long does my passport need to be valid for?
We recommend that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months before you enter in Spain.
How can I get my VISA
Go camp spain will support you every step of the way to get your NIE/VISA.
We’ll let you know as soon as you’re able to start everything. As part of our company policy, this information will be delivered in private to our participants in order to not make confusions by anything that it can be written here.
Will I need to get the Police Background Check?
Yes you’ll need it. As well as the NIE/VISA, we will explain everything in private as soon as you’re able to get it.
Camp life
Why Should I be a summer camp counselor?
Working at a camp is more than just a summer employment! The different jobs offered will allow you to develop qualities and aptitudes that will add value to your resume, but above all to your life experience.
Camps offer the possibility of experiencing a wide range of emotions and memorable situations while developing your sense of human relations. Being a counselor allows you to learn to manage stress and last-minute problems while remaining resourceful, available and responsible.
In addition to being very rewarding and offering the possibility of showcasing your skills and knowledge, the job of counselor also allows you to develop a certain amount of financial independence.
Is food and accommodation covered?
Of course!
Participants will be in a residential camp in the mountains or close to the beach. Both of them will provide full board and double/ triple room accommodation in cabins (sharing with other camp counselors/ leaders/sport leaders according to their sex). Accommodation at most summer camp in Spain is relatively basic but comfortable, though it can vary.
Food will be served as a buffet-style for every meal, allowing the chef to offer many choices to accommodate most types of dietary needs. Either you are vegetarian or not, you will enjoy the food.
How many days off do I get?
Free time at camp is very important part of recharging your batteries. The number of days you’ll get off will depend on which summer camp in Spain you are working at.
As a rule, you’ll get one day and half off per week as well as to every staff.
What if I have a problem while I am in Spain
Your first point of contact should be your camp director, he/she have years of experience in dealing with all sorts of issues.

How old are the campers?
As a general rule, most camp cater to children between 6 and 16 years-old. They are coming from everywhere in Spain.
How many hours do I work in the summer camp?
Normally from 8 to 10 hours on average per day. It will also depends on the summer camp and the activities that you’re involve in.
Will be there more #FunnyCampers in the camp where I am placed?
Normally yes, once you’re placed in a summer camp, others #FunnyCampers with the same skills than you might be placed in that camp as well. In case that this happened, we like to exchange telephone numbers (if you allow us to do it) or create a Whatsapp group to introduce each other.
Travel Spain
How long can I travel after camp?
For European citizen: As you’re European, you can stay in Spain as much as you want, there is not time limit.
For non-european citizen: You can stay in Spain up to 90 days, so you will have enough time for traveling after your camp experience.
We recommend you to check out our cultural activities that you can take part in Spain.
What should I do after camp?
We strongly recommend you travel Spain, from hitting the beaches of the mediterranean in Barcelona or exploring the south of Spain in Andalucia.
Remember that you have an extra 15 days medical insurance after your camp experience. In addition we count on many cultural activities all around Spain that you can take for amazing prices. Whatever your decision is made, we will assist you with our best smile.
How much money should I take when I travel?
The amount of money you’ll need will depend on what you’re planning to do while you travel around Spain and how many days you want to dedicate for traveling. Spain is not a expensive country, wherever you go you can find restaurant for 10€, transportation for 20€ to move from one city to another and places to sleepover for 30€.
With the salary that you’ll earn in the summer camp will be more than enough. As we said, we want to be part of your traveling experiences and propose you many itineraries according to what you would like to do.
